Step-by-step instructions for installing and configuring the Unbrowse extension.

Before You Start

✅ Chrome 90+ or Firefox 88+ ✅ Active Unbrowse account ✅ Email verification complete

Installation Steps

Chrome

  1. Visit Chrome Web Store

  2. Search "Unbrowse"

  3. Click "Add to Chrome"

  4. Click "Add Extension" when prompted

  5. Extension icon appears in toolbar

  6. Click icon to sign in

Initial Configuration

1. Sign In

Click extension icon:

  • Email + password, OR

  • Google OAuth, OR

  • Solana wallet (Phantom)

2. Grant Permissions

Extension needs:

  • ✅ Access to all websites (for capture)

  • ✅ Storage (for settings)

  • ✅ Network requests (for HAR capture)

3. Configure Preferences

Privacy Settings:

  • ☑ Auto-capture mode (recommended)

  • ☑ Exclude banking/healthcare

  • ☑ Anonymize personal data

Capture Settings:

  • Batch size: 10 abilities

  • Upload frequency: Every 5 minutes

  • Network: WiFi only / Any

Verifying Installation

Check Status

Extension icon shows:

🟢 Active  - Capturing enabled
🟡 Paused  - Temporarily disabled
🔴 Offline - Not connected

Test Capture

  1. Visit a simple site (e.g., LinkedIn)

  2. Perform an action (e.g., post update)

  3. Extension should show "+1 ability captured"

Troubleshooting

Extension Not Visible

Fix:

  1. Open chrome://extensions

  2. Find "Unbrowse"

  3. Click "Pin" icon

  4. Refresh page

Not Capturing

Check:

  • Extension enabled (not paused)

  • Signed in to account

  • Site not in exclusion list

  • Network connection active

Login Issues

Solutions:

  • Clear browser cache

  • Disable other extensions temporarily

  • Use incognito mode test
